The experiment was carried out to investigate the performance of different wood shavings as substrates of Oyster mushroom during April-July 2013. The experiment was conducted at Horticulture centre, Daulatpur, Khulna. Pleurotus ostreatus variety and four substrates supplement viz. Shirish wood shaving, Neem wood shaving, Mahogoni wood shaving and Jam wood shaving were used in the study. Pleurotus ostreatus showed better performance in jam wood shaving substrate supplement regarding number of effective fruiting body, pileus thickness, pileus diameter, stalk length, stalk diameter, biological yield, economic yield and harvest index. On the other hand, Pleurotus ostreatus showed poor performance in neem wood shaving substrate supplement regarding the same parameters. The number of effective fruiting body, biological yield, economic yield and harvest index were on different substrates differed significantly. The highest number of effective fruiting body, the biological yield, the economic yield and harvest index per packet were recorded on jam wood shaving substrate supplement, which was significantly higher as compared to all other wood shaving substrates. The lowest number of effective fruiting body, the biological yield, the economic yield and harvest index per packet were observed in neem wood shaving substrate supplement. The number of effective fruiting body was positively correlated with biological yield and economic yield of oyster mushroom. Harvest index was positively correlated with biological yield and economic yield of oyster mushroom.
