| dc.description.abstract | Length-weight relationship, condition factor and relative condition factor of Mystus gulio and Odontamblyopus rubicundus were studied for a period of six months from October 2008 to March 2009. The results of the present study show that the length-weight of M gulio was linearly related and the equation obtained for total length-body weight and standard length-body weight was BW = -68.46 + 7.24TL (r = 0.93) and BW = -65.72 + 9.02SL (r = 0.94), respectively. The correlation coefficient indicate that the relationship between length and weight of the fish was highly significant. In case of 0. rubicundus the equation obtained for total length-body weight and standard length-body weight was BW = -4.63 + 0.71 TL (r = 0.94) and BW = -4.37 + 0.86SL (r = 0.94), respectively. The mean value of the condition factor of M gulio observed was 10.15±0.96. The lowest value of condition factor was observed as 7.69 in the length class of 12-14 cm and the highest value was observed as 13.3 in the length class of 10-12 cm. The values of condition factor of 0. rubicundus varied between 1.61 to 3.4 with a mean value of ~.29±0 .31. The highest value of the condition factor was observed in the length class of 9-10 cm and the lowest value was observed in the length class of 14-15 cm. The relative condition factor of M gulio varied from 0.75 to 1.31. The highest and the lowest value was recorded in the length class of 10-12cm and 14-16 cm, respectively. The mean value was observed as 0.99±0.09. The mean relative condition factor of 0. rubicundus was observed as 1.0±0.12. The lowest value of the relative condition factor was recorded as 0.66 in the length class of 6-7 cm and the highest value was observed as 1.45 in the length class of 9-10 cm. | |
