Mangrove associated endophytic fungi are the potential sources bioactive compounds. Considering the significance of endophytic fungi, the present experiment was undertaken to determine the total phenol and antifungal activity of these endophytic fungi. The results showed that EASF-I endophytic fungi collected from Sundarbans showed the highest Total Flavonoid Contents (TFC) (109.6 pg QE/mg of extract) and Total Polyphenol Contents (TPC) (138.4 GAE/mg of extract) followed by EASF-2, EASF-3. The Bat-ul4 and the Kewra-l endophytic fungi showed the lowest amount of Total Flavonoid Contents (TFC) (4.113 pg QE/mg of extract) and Total Polyphenol Contents (TPC) (45.15 pg GAE/mg of extract). Among the ten endophytic fungi, EASF-3 showed the best result in case of antifungal activity and was effective against four pathogenic fungi whereas other showed moderate activity. Most effective endophytic fungi were EASF-I, EASF-2 and EASF-3 because they revealed antifungal activity against pathogenic fungus (Bipolaris sorokiniana of Wheat, Fusarium oxysporum of Tomato, Alternaria solani of Tomato and Colletotrichum musae of Banana). As they were efficient against the pathogenic fungi they were subjected to molecular identification and were identified as Paecilomyces tenuis, Talaromyces sp. and Trichoderma harzianum, respectively. These pathogens' extracts have the potentiality to use as alternative to fungicides in future.
