dc.description.abstractProbiotics play important role in preventing or mitigating the effects of dysbacteriosis and, specifically, necrotic enteritis in poultry. Recently, the potential usage of probiotics in poultry industry has been increased globally. In Bangladesh, there is no record so fur regarding the use of native probiotics in the poultry industry. Therefore, the characterization of beneficial probiotic strains is imperative. The gastrointestinal tract (Gl) of poultry can be an excellent source of probiotic as it has a diverse and complex probiotic microbiota that plays a vital role in digestion and absorption of nutrients. The objectives of this study was to identify native probiotic bacteria isolated from the gastrointestinal tract of poultry samples of different regions of the country using 16S rRNA gene sequencing. Thirty poultry isolates were subjected to DNA extraction followed by pure colony isolation and later. PCR of the DNA samples and subsequently 16s rRNA gene sequencing were performed. The 168 rRNA gene sequences were aligned against other bacterial species by BLAST search Using MEGA-X software for the construction of phylogenetic tree. Phylogenetic relationship among the samples was analyzed on the basis of sequenced data and dendrogram was constructed using UPGMA. Four Bacillus cereus strains, two Bacillius subtillis strains, and three closely related to Bacillus spp. strains were identified. Further investigation regarding the development of probiotic based feed product for poultry using native isolates from OJ tract of poultry would be worthy to investigate.
