| dc.description.abstract | The research work was carried out at Horticulture laboratory, Agrotechnology Discipline, Khulna University, Khulna-9208, Bangladesh to determine the physico-chemical characteristics of 30 selected sapota germplasm available in the south-western region of Bangladesh during February to July, 2011. The experiment was laid out Molecular in Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with three replications. A significant variation was found among the germplasm in relation to fruit characteristics and organoleptic taste. Better performance was showed by germplasm No.80 in respect of individual fruit weight (94.39gm), edible portion (84.89gm) and vitamin-C content (11.80mg/100g). The highest fruit width (5.33cm) was observed in germplasm No. 63, the highest length (5cm) in germplasm No. 51. While germplasm No. 62 the highest pH (6.54) while the highest TSS (26.00%) was recorded the highest in germplasm No.54. Contents of carotenoids 76 (0.41mg/100 g), anthocyanin (1.28 mg/100 g) and flavonoids (15.57 g/100g) were highest in the germplasm 76, 66 and 72 respectively. The overall findings indicate that sapota is rich in nutrients | |
